Merry Christmas and all that jazz...

I know it's been awhile since I contacted you, dear readers. It has been a very busy winter for me so far. These photos were taken at my most recent engagement at Berlin Nightclub for my second appearance in the 'Nightcaps Late Night Cabaret'.

Do you like my new gold dress? I went so far as to creat a holiday themed centerpiece for my hair. I think the crafty folks at Michael's on Halsted and Clark would be proud of my handiwork. It's amazing what you can do with a little glitter and a styrofoam partridge...

Hosted by Adam Guerino and the Puterbaugh Sisters, Nightcaps is a monthly late night cabaret featuring musicians, comics and dancers from all over Chicago.

I was lucky to have the great Jimmy Morehead as my accompanist. The girl having some sort of seizure in front of me is Tiffany Puterbaugh. This was also her 30th Birthday.

These last two shots are from Gay Chicago Magazines coverage of the Sidetrack Holiday Party. As usual, it was the hit of the holiday season and I was proud to count myself with the rest of the seasoned Sidetrack regulars.

Well, it seems that my ice cubes are getting dry, so I'll have to excuse myself for now. Until we see each other again, Merry Christmas everyone!

Another year in the wonderful Windy City

Another 'Night of 100 Drag Queens' has come and gone.
Thank you to everyone who came and made Vallery's Sidetrack singing debut a smashing success!
These photos were taken after my set in the Glass Bar at Sidetrack by my new friend Harold Blum.

Each 'Night of 100 Drag Queens' helps me to mark another year spent in Chicago. Another year making new friends and realizing yet another dream come true. I can't think of any other place in the world that I'd rather be. I've grown so much in these last few years that sometimes I hardly recognize myself, until I put on my face and I hear my music playing again...

Thanks again for all the wonderful memories.
I'm ready to begin yet another year of Vallery's gradual takeover of Chicago, and eventually, the world.

Vallery Dolls at 'Night of 100 Queens' 2007

This is from the days before I started singing the songs myself.

'Night of 100 Queens' at Sidetrack has been a yearly tradition for me since moving to Chicago many years ago. This number was meant as a farewell to the days of smoking indoors in Chicago. The smoking ban went into effect two months later. I was in the midst of quitting the filthy habit when I did this routine. Needless to say, it really helped me say goodbye to cigarettes and hello to the 30 pounds of blubber that I gained in the next six months...

Yes, I know that the sound is a bit off. Just relax and enjoy a great song performed by Dinah Washington (another prisoner of the Valley of the Dolls).

Valley of The Dolls [Neely Nuthouse Quotable Remix]

This clip just about sums up the entire movie. All the best quotes mixed with a version of k.d.lang singing the "Theme from Valley of the Dolls". Be warned, it might be considered Not Safe For Work.

Enjoy!
